Plan the queue before the mix
Ask yourself where truck two waits while truck one discharges. On a tight Downtown plot the answer decides your pour rate. If only one truck can stand at the pump, space the deliveries accordingly and tell us the interval. Trucks reach the area from Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Road; our plant in Al Quoz is about 9 km away in a straight line, and peak hours lengthen the trip.
Building management and the master developer often set delivery hours and routes in Downtown. Check with them, get the approvals in writing and share the gate contact with us.
Stage by stage on a Downtown tower
Blinding: thin, usually 50 to 75 mm, but it must be on time so steel fixing can start.
Foundations: Downtown is inland ground, without the coastal chloride exposure of the waterfront districts, but your consultant still sets the substructure specification, and large rafts need a pour sequence. A 900 m3 raft is 75 truckloads.
Superstructure slabs: boom pumps from 43 m to 57 m cover the lower floors; higher floors need a placing boom. Never call off concrete until the pump is set and the line is ready.
Screed: smaller, repeated orders to finished floors. Give us a schedule by floor.
The pour that fails before it starts
The usual causes are simple: the pump was not booked, the road closure permit lapsed, the formwork inspection was not signed, or the slump was ordered for a midday pour that turned into an evening one. In summer, many specifications limit the placing temperature, so large slabs move to night. We set the retarder and slump target for the real hour of discharge, so give us that hour honestly.
Every load for Downtown Dubai is batched at Al Quoz, on the same ready-mix concrete Dubai dispatch as the rest of the city.
Questions from Downtown Dubai sites
- How do I size a pour for a site where only one truck fits?
- Work out how long one 12 m3 truck takes to discharge through your pump, then space deliveries at that interval. We batch to match.
- Do Downtown sites need a special foundation mix?
- That is your consultant's call. The ground is inland rather than coastal, but the specification still sets exposure, strength and cover.
