Staff accommodation: the repeat order
Accommodation blocks are built floor after floor with a similar slab each time. Once the consultant approves the superstructure mix, a standing weekly order works well: same volume, same pump, same start time. A typical floor of 22 by 40 m at 200 mm plus beams lands near 200 m³, about 17 truckloads.
Below that sits the usual sequence: blinding, footings or raft on a substructure mix, ground beams.
Repeat pours make it easy to compare. If one floor needed noticeably more concrete than the previous one, check the formwork levels before the next pour. A slab that is 20 mm thicker than designed over 880 m² is almost 18 m³ extra, more than a full truck on every floor.
Industrial units and yards
The ground slab of a workshop takes point loads and vehicle traffic, so follow the specified thickness exactly and consider a fibre-reinforced mix where the design allows. External yards and loading aprons are ordered last. They suffer most from heat because they sit fully exposed: pour early and cure straight away.
Before you confirm the date
Is the street wide enough for a mixer to turn, or will it reverse in from Damascus Street? Is the pump standing on firm ground clear of service covers? Has steel inspection been booked for the day before, not the same morning? Is someone on site to receive the delivery note and take cubes?
Al Qusais is about 23 km from the plant in Al Quoz in a straight line, accessed from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Damascus Street. Peak traffic adds to that, so the retarder is dosed for real travel time.
Al Qusais and Muhaisnah sits inside our readymix concrete Dubai coverage, dispatched from the Al Quoz plant.
Questions from Al Qusais and Muhaisnah sites
- Can you hold a weekly slot for floor slabs?
- Yes. Give us the programme and we pencil in trucks and a pump for each slab, then confirm the volume a day ahead.
- What slump should I ask for on a pumped slab?
- The one in your specification, adjusted for the pour hour. Tell us how you place it and we will match the consistence.
- Do you deliver to industrial units on Friday?
- We deliver 24/7. Whether a pour can go ahead that day depends on your site and any local rules on working hours.
