Machine foundations and pits
Heavy equipment sits on its own reinforced base, often isolated from the main floor. These are deep, heavily reinforced blocks. Measure each one from the drawings and pour it in a single operation; a 6 by 4 by 1.5 m base is 36 m³, three full truckloads. Vibration and steel congestion matter more than speed, so agree the slump with your engineer.
Pits, sumps and trenches are poured before or alongside the floor depending on the design.
From blinding to the factory floor
Blinding under footings, pad footings for the frame on a substructure mix, ground beams, then the floor. A 40 by 60 m factory floor at 200 mm is 480 m³, so it is poured in bays across several days. Ask for fibre-reinforced concrete only if the design calls for it.
For residential clusters in DIP, the same steps lead to superstructure slabs, usually pumped with a 43 m boom.
Before each floor bay, confirm cast-in items: drainage, cable ducts, anchor plates for racking or equipment. Measure the bay volume from surveyed levels and give us the figure the day before. A 10 mm error over 2,400 m² is 24 m³, two truckloads.
Things to settle before the pour date
Plot access agreed and the subbase compacted. Pump booked with a firm standing area. Inspection done the day before. A wash-out point for the mixers. A night or early-morning slot during summer, because large slabs here are fully exposed.
DIP is about 17 km from our Al Quoz plant in a straight line, reached by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Expo Road. Peak traffic adds time; the retarder dose covers it.
Dubai Investments Park (DIP) sits inside our readymix concrete Dubai coverage, dispatched from the Al Quoz plant.
Questions from Dubai Investments Park (DIP) sites
- Can a machine base be poured with the floor?
- Usually not. Most designs isolate the base, so it is a separate pour with its own volume and timing.
- How do I split a large floor into pours?
- Your engineer locates the joints. Each bay then becomes one order, and we schedule trucks so the finishing crew keeps a steady pace.
- Do you supply blinding in small loads?
- Yes. Blinding is usually a modest volume per footing group, and we schedule it to suit the excavation sequence.
