Ground floor of a light industrial unit
Industrial floors carry racking and forklifts, so the slab design matters more than the frame. The consultant sets thickness and reinforcement; your job is to give us bay sizes and the pour sequence. A 25 by 40 m bay at 200 mm is 200 m³, about 17 trucks. Pour it in planned strips with a laser screed or a disciplined finishing team, and order fibre-reinforced concrete if the specification calls for it.
Joints are part of the order too. Saw-cut joints have to be cut within hours of finishing, so the cutting crew must be booked for the same night as the pour. Construction joints between strips are set by the engineer; place the stop-end before the first truck, not while concrete is waiting in the drum.
The office or residential part
Here the order is classic: blinding, substructure for footings and raft, superstructure for columns and slabs. For floors above the reach of a mixer chute, book a boom pump; 43 m covers most mid-rise slabs, the 57 m boom handles longer reaches. Placing booms on the slab help on larger floor plates.
Screed is ordered last, once services are fixed.
Before the first truck
Check that the free zone authority or building management has cleared the delivery. Confirm where the pump stands and that the ground there is firm. Have the cube moulds and a technician ready for sampling. And agree the slump: a pumped slab needs a different consistence from a chute-placed footing.
The plant in Al Quoz is about 15 km away in a straight line, reached by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Al Ain Road. We set the retarder for the travel and pour time, longer at peak hours.
Dubai Silicon Oasis is inside our readymix concrete Dubai delivery area, served straight from the Al Quoz plant.
Questions from Dubai Silicon Oasis sites
- Can industrial floor strips be poured on consecutive nights?
- Yes. Send the strip sequence and volumes and we plan trucks and pump for each night.
- Who decides the slab mix for a warehouse floor?
- Your structural consultant. We batch to the approved design and can propose a mix for approval if one is not yet set.
- How many trucks per hour can a floor strip take?
- That depends on the finishing crew and the pump. Tell us the rate your team can place and finish, and we space trucks to match it.
