Site preparation the truck depends on
A loaded 12 m³ mixer is heavy. On loose desert sand it sinks unless the haul route is compacted and, ideally, graded with a hard layer. Mark a turning point and a wash-out pit. Many first-day delays here have nothing to do with concrete; the truck simply cannot reach the pump.
Order of works on an open site
Blinding comes first under every footing and raft. Over a large phase it adds up: 40 villas with 25 m³ of blinding each is 1,000 m³, around 84 truckloads, so we spread it across a programme.
Foundations follow on a substructure mix, then ground and upper slabs on superstructure. For raft pours above 100 m³, book the pump and confirm a standby plan. Internal roads and kerbs come last, often as fibre-reinforced slabs.
Keep a simple pour log for the phase: date, plot, element, volume ordered, volume placed. Over dozens of plots it shows where the estimates run short and lets the next order be more accurate. It also helps when cube results come back and the engineer asks which truck went where.
Sun, wind and fresh concrete
With nothing to shelter a slab, the desert wind dries the surface faster than bleed water rises. That is when plastic shrinkage cracks appear within hours. Pour early, have curing compound or wet hessian on site before the first truck, and keep the finishing crew moving behind the pump.
Summer specifications limit placing temperature, so night pours are normal. We set slump and retarder for the hour of the pour. The plant in Al Quoz is about 13 km away in a straight line, via Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Al Ain Road.
Ordering in Dubailand follows our standard readymix concrete Dubai process: the mix, the volume, the pour window.
Questions from Dubailand sites
- Can you supply several plots on the same night?
- Yes, if the pour points and sequence are agreed in advance. We dispatch against your order list so trucks do not wait between plots.
- What curing do you recommend in Dubailand?
- Follow the project specification. In practice, apply curing compound or wet covering immediately after finishing, because open desert sites lose surface moisture fast.
- How far ahead should a phase be booked?
- As early as the programme is known. A weekly look-ahead with volumes and pump days lets us hold trucks for you instead of fitting you in.
