New phases: think in rows, not houses
A townhouse row is ordered as a series of repeat pours. Blinding for the whole row first, then footings or rafts unit by unit, then ground slabs. If each unit raft is 40 m³, a row of eight needs 320 m³, about 27 truckloads spread over several days. Send us the pour programme for the week and we can plan trucks and a pump against it rather than taking each pour as a surprise.
Roof slabs and stair cores follow on a superstructure mix. Keep the same pump position where possible; moving a 43 m boom between plots costs time.
Owners near the golf course
Garden rooms, pergola footings and driveway slabs are small orders, often under 10 m³. Access is the main issue: narrow side passages, irrigation lines and finished paving. A line pump or a short boom from the road usually solves it. Ask the community about delivery windows before booking.
For a driveway, measure length by width by thickness and add a little for uneven ground. A 6 by 12 m driveway at 150 mm is 10.8 m³; ordering a round 11 or 12 m³ avoids a short last panel and a second delivery for half a cubic metre.
Volume check and common mistakes
Quantity surveyors add a small allowance for waste and uneven formation; owners often forget it and run short on the last metre. The other expensive mistakes we see: ordering a stiff slump for a pumped slab, no wash-out area for the trucks, and steel inspection still pending when the first mixer arrives.
The plant in Al Quoz is about 12 km away in a straight line, via Al Qudra Road or Umm Suqeim Street. Peak traffic lengthens the trip, so pours start early and the retarder dose matches the travel time.

Questions from DAMAC Hills sites
- Can you hold the same mix design across a whole phase?
- Yes. Once the consultant approves a mix we batch to that design for every pour, which keeps cube results consistent across the units.
- When should screed be ordered?
- After services are in and the slab has cured enough for the floor layers. It usually comes in smaller loads timed to their crew.
- Should I book the pump separately?
- Book it with us when you order the concrete, so the pump and the first truck arrive together and the boom length suits the reach.
